Our legacy division, AEP Books & Media, is a comprehensive book and media supplier offering over 12 million books, CDs and DVDs of all types to the government, academic, and institutional markets. With over $20 million in sales annually, AEP is recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the country, both by Inc. 5000 and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City.
Founded in 1992, AEP Books and Media is a Veteran-owned small business headquartered in Buffalo, NY. From the concept of supplying study guides for students who needed to take standardized tests, the idea turned into a part-time business operated from Ken Pronti, AEP CEO’s home. The business grew quickly and was soon supplying all books in print, in any quantity, to customers worldwide.
AEP was awarded its first major contract with the Government Services Administration in the late 1990s. With freight trucks pulling up outside Ken Pronti’s house loaded with pallets of books, it was time to find a new location for the growing business. In 2000, AEP leased space at the 750,000 square foot Tri-Main facility and Ken Pronti officially resigned from his day job with NY Air National Guard to tackle the business full-time.
Since then tenacious marketing and technology enhancements have fueled an aggressive growth rate and expanding market share. New opportunities include the sale of environmental products and fulfillment services as AEP expands beyond its traditional business lines. AEP has evolved into a diversified supplier of publications, amenity items, environmental products and fulfillment services to institutional customers worldwide.
AEP has provided valuable services for numerous federal and state agencies, K-12 schools, colleges and universities and libraries of all types.
